What is Peat? Video Discussion

Scotch whisky production is diverse, with five main regions in Scotland. Peat, used for drying malted barley, influences the earthy flavor of the whiskies. Peat levels vary by region, affecting the smokiness of the final product. The aging process further impacts flavor, with peat intensity diminishing over time. Scotch Review Video – Oban 14

Oban 14-year-old is complex but balanced, with multiple flavors without being aggressive. No overpowering of any one flavor. Must admit, though, that it has a bit of a youngish bite to it; maybe a few more years in the cask would help make it a better scotch.

Scotch Review Video – Laphroaig 10 yr

I love this whisky. I’m a big fan of Islay whisky in general, and Laphroaig is no exception. Standard in my stable of sipping whiskies with a great depth to both the aroma and flavor. Also, it is a wonderful component of a Rusty Nail.
